  4. The Paradox of the Legendary Pokémon

The entire world of Pokémon leads up to their capture; they are the ultimate prize, the strongest, the rarest, the best. You are taught your entire life to believe that they are the most awe-some, the pinacle of Pokémon power.

But when you finally capture them, finally set them as number one your party, and fight with them, there is nothing. When it comes down to it, in the thick of battle when all you have is trust and love for each other, you have nothing, and they have nothing. They are an empty Poké-ball, filled not with the experience of training a Pidgey from level three or an Oddish from level four. There is no adoration or friendship. They are simply a machine, incapable of the feelings built by a life of hard work and perseverance.

They can never take the place of the lifelong friends that you grew with and helped become strong. They can never eclipse the bonds born of a journey of truth and wisdom. They can never have a place among the very best there ever were. For no amount of grandeur or majesty can exceed the power of friendship. Friendship is truly the power that is inside.
